Christ Fulfills the Law

Who or what has the final say in your life? We live in a culture that constantly tells us that we are the ultimate authority—that we should define truth for ourselves, determine what is right and wrong, and follow our own desires. But Jesus confronts that assumption in Matthew 5 and reminds us that God’s Word is not outdated, disposable, or subject to our approval. He did not come to abolish the Law and the Prophets; He came to fulfill them, revealing that the Scriptures are the trustworthy Word of God and that their ultimate purpose is to point us to Him. Yet Jesus also gives us a sobering challenge: the righteousness God requires cannot be produced by outward religious performance or simply trying harder to keep the rules. We need something greater than our own goodness—we need the righteousness of Christ. The Christian life begins when we surrender our authority to His, trusting Jesus not only as Savior but as Lord. And as we discover that the entire story of Scripture points to Christ, we are confronted with a deeply personal question: Who is the authority in your life?
