Do Not Covet
Good morning, church. Today we come to the final commandment in our series, and though it may not seem as outwardly serious as murder or theft, “Do not covet” speaks directly to the condition of our hearts. Coveting is more than just wanting—it’s an excessive, envious desire for what God has given to someone else. It’s a restless craving that not only robs us of joy, but can drive us to make destructive decisions, damage relationships, and distance ourselves from God. The story of Amnon and Tamar shows us just how far unchecked desire can go. But the good news is this: God offers us a better way. Through trusting in His provision, living with gratitude, and finding true peace in Christ, we can be freed from the grip of envy and learn to live with contentment in every circumstance.
