This Week At North Anderson
Happy Monday, North Anderson family and friends!
I hope that your week has gotten off to a great start! I'm still praising the Lord for the wonderful morning of Bible Fellowship and worship that we we're blessed to share in on Sunday at North Anderson and the many guest that joined us in worship of our King. I'm sure that you encouraged by the vibrant singing and were challenged and edified, as was I, by the preaching of God's Word. It's always so special to partake in the Lord's Supper as a family of believers, as well.
I would also like to share with you that I am grateful for you and to be privileged to serve you as your Pastor. Annette and I were blessed to spend a couple of days last week at a Pastors/Wives retreat that is put on by our state convention. We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to get some much-needed time and unhurried together, we also spent lots of time talking with fellow Pastors and wives. There were many conversations that caused us to pause and thank the Lord for placing us in such a Gospel focused, kind, and welcoming church family. We praise God for that, and for you!
I look forward to seeing you this week as we continue to grow together in grace, truth, and love.
Soli Deo Gloria! - Pastor Kyle

Sunday:
From Children’s Ministry Director Ashley Rollins: We are collecting plastic Easter eggs and individually wrapped candy for our community Easter Egg Hunt at Watson Park on April 4. Please place donations in the containers in the welcome center March 8 - March 29.
A note from Pastor Stephen: Church family, as we do our best to steward the resources God has blessed and entrusted us with, I would like to ask you to help us with what may seem a small thing but makes a big impact: turning off the lights in the church building. Each week as I walk through the building on Mondays and Thursdays, I find lights that have been left on. It may seem like a small thing but the hours the lights left on while no one is in the building add up quickly. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Verse for the week: "Teach me your way, LORD, and I will live by your truth. Give me an undivided mind to fear your name." - Psalm 86:11
Prayer Focus this week: Sri Lanka
The island nation of Sri Lanka is home to followers of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam, and during the month of March, each of these faith traditions will be celebrating significant festivals such as Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the Islamic month of Ramadan; Holi, a colorful spring Hindu festival; and the monthly Medin Full Moon Poya, a Buddhist celebration of Buddha’s first visit to his father’s kingdom. Please pray for the people of Sri Lanka during this season. As individuals participate in these traditions, pray that their hearts will be stirred with a deeper longing for truth, peace, and purpose. Ask the Holy Spirit to show them that rituals and celebrations cannot mend their relationship with a holy God. Pray that many will hear the gospel and believe! Please lift up believers across Sri Lanka, asking that they will be bold and compassionate as they share the love of Christ with their neighbors. Pray for many Sri Lankans from every background to encounter Jesus, who is “the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6), and follow Him alone!
Whole Life Stewardship Challenge: “A person should think of us in this way: as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God” – 1 Corinthians 4:1
In this short passage we find the two primary characteristics that should mark our lives as followers of Christ: servants and stewards. In this first letter to the Corinthian church, Paul says that it is these things that people should know us by…
“Servants” – Interestingly, it’s not the word that Paul most often uses for servant, doulos. Instead, the word here is a reference to the under rower, those found on the lowest galley of a boat whose only job is when the captain of the boat says, “Row”. Paul said, this is who we are and how we should be known.
“Stewards” - This word, as we’ve explained in previous articles, describes a trusted manager or caretaker who is responsible for administering another person's property, household, or affairs.
Spiritually, of course, when we think of stewardship, we rightly view it as describing someone who understands that God has graciously gifted us with time, talents, and treasures and we’re to use these things wisely, for His glory.
Yet, here in this passage, Paul doesn’t mention the mandate of stewarding time, talent, or treasure in this passage…but rather “stewarding the mysteries of God”.
What does this mean?
Jesus often spoke of “mysteries of the kingdom” through parables and the Apostle Paul writes about these mysteries 21 times!
In the New Testament scriptures a “mystērion” doesn’t refer to some unfathomable riddle but to a divine truth previously hidden and now revealed to God’s covenant people.
“The mysteries of God” referenced here in 1 Corinthians 4:1 encompass the once-hidden, now-revealed redemptive plan centered on the incarnate, crucified, and risen Christ, extended to all nations, consummated in resurrection glory, and preserved in Scripture.
Every believer is trustee of these truths, and stewarding it well, we are called to guard, live, and broadcast them until the Lord returns.
Let’s endeavor to be careful and intentional to steward the mysteries of God so that we may be found faithful (1st Corinthians 4:2)
