WE'VE GOT SOME EXCITING NEWS TO SHARE!
In order for us to accommodate present growth in our church family and foster continued expansion as we march into the future together, we're providing an additional Sunday morning worship service beginning Sunday, October 4th!
On this date, you will be able to choose between gathering for worship at 8:15am or 10:45am. There will be one Bible Fellowship time, at that will be from 9:30 - 10:30am.
While we'll be sharing more details in the coming weeks, here's a few "need-to-knows" related to this exciting development:
* While the songs selection and sermon for each service will be identical, the music will be led in different ways.
In the 8:15 service, a Praise Team will be developed to lead the congregational singing, while in the 10:45am service, the music will be led by a praise team and full choir (as our current service is). There will be no change in how the sermon is delivered from service to service.
* The 8:15 service will be "Family Integrated", by design.
What this means is that children's church / childcare will not be available for this service. Instead, we encourage families to worship together.
The 10:45 service will offer Nursery and Children's Church
It probably goes without saying but we think it's important to acknowledge from the outset of this transition that when a church moves to multiple services, there will be a sense in which they lose a bit of the tight-knit familial togetherness that exist when we are all together as one.
Try as we may, there's just no way to eliminate that reality all-together. What we can and will do is attempt to mitigate that as much as possible.
There are many ways in which we'll attempt to foster and encourage community, and fellowship, and we'll share more about this in the coming days...but allow us to give you three measures that we are putting in place in order to serve this purpose
1. The "Special Sauce" that will help us to maintain a familial feel, as well as encourage Biblical community among the body of Christ will be our Bible Fellowship Classes.
We're going to be heavily leaning on our wonderful and very capable teachers and leaders throughout this process, asking them to think creatively about how their BF class could best fill this gap, as well as to raise up leaders from within their class to help shoulder the load and ensure class-member needs are known and met.
If you aren't already engaged in one, we strongly encourage you to jump in! There's a listing of the classes offered in the Welcome Center!
2. Increasing The Frequency Of Family Meetings
Each quarter, we'll be gathering together on a Sunday evening in the FLC as one church family to share a pot-luck meal, participate in the Lord's Supper, observe baptism, and receive new members.
We will be doing this in order to promote fellowship within the body and to allow us to maintain scriptural fidelity concerning specific matters that are best suited for "one assembly" rather than in separate services.
*While this will initially be a quarterly function, our intention is for it to become monthly, once a pattern has been established.
*This will take the place of our current 5th Sunday Brunch
*If there are Senior Adults who would life to attend but do not want to drive in the evenings, transportation will be provided
3. A Change In The Deacon Family Ministry Plan
After consulting with our Deacon ministry, accompanying this move will be a change in how our Deacons serve the body in the area of member care.
In our current model, which has served us well for many years now, each Deacon has several families assigned to his care. That care will now be transferred to Bible Fellowship Class leaders, and each Deacon will be reassigned specific individuals and couples from among our Senior Adult membership that they will now devote themselves to.
Put simply: Because of the very intentional emphasis that we're going to be placing upon providing care and community through Bible Fellowship Classes, the focus of our Deacon Ministry will be narrowed to Senior Adult Care in general, and specifically widows, widowers, and the homebound.
Our goal in this is that as the Lord continues to grow our church with young families and individuals, the senior adult/retirees that are so integral to our body don't unintentionally fall through the cracks.
This change to our model is also a proactive effort as the senior adult community is rapidly growing in our community and will only continue to do so.
If fact, for the first time in history, by the year 2035, there will be more United States Citizens over the age of 65 than under the age of 18!
What a mission field that will be! We recognize that in order to effectively reach it, and to ensure that every individual in our church family, young and old, is cared for, valued, and feels loved, this change to our current model needs to take place.
With that being said, here are some things we're going to need from you in order for this to work well, enabling more people to hear the Gospel and become part of what God is doing right now at North Anderson Baptist Church
- We need you to pray for this effort! It's not cliche to ask for prayer about this change. This will only be as impactful as our prayers so please, each day, ask our Lord to supernaturally bless our efforts to reach more people with His Gospel!
- We need you to serve! Adding an additional service will require more individuals putting their "yes" on the table, using their gifts to build the body. We'll need to develop and train individuals to serve on the Audio/Visual team, more people to serve as greeters, more to serve in the Worship Ministry, etc. There's a place for you to serve!
- We need your flexibility! As we say around here often, North Anderson3:16 says, "blessed are the flexible, for they shall not get bent out of shape".
Changes like this, even though they are positive and forward thinking, require much patience, grace, and flexibility while we work out the unforeseen bugs.
As mentioned, these adjustments will take some time to implement. We'll keep you informed and as always, feel free to contact staff with any questions that you may have.
